Gallery Visit - The Hugh Lane Andy Warhol, Three Times Out

I made three visits over the course of two days to The Hugh Lane, accompanying the cooperating teacher and her students, prior to commencing my school placement. It was clear to see the effect on the students and their appreciation for seeing art in the gallery setting. I think they were excited, particularly by the silver balloons at the entrance. There were some very informative tour guides who gave a great overview of the work and raised relevant themes relating to Andy Warhol’s work: pop culture, capitalism and consumption, identity, etc. I think a gallery visit is vital for students to understand the art world and gives more meaning to artists that they encounter, to see the work in real life.
