  • Transition Year Collaborative Printmaking. Theme "To be human in a more than human world"

    Aim of Unit of Learning:
    To create a collaborative print artefact through monotype printmaking processes to explore the theme of “ to be human, in a more than human world”
    AEDP: Composition, contrast, negative/positive space, line, shape, colour, texture, perspective, value

  • Collage - 1st Years. Theme: Hybrid Creatures.

    Aim of Unit of Learning:

    Working from a primary source object in pencil and pastel, creating a pencil tonal drawing using grid technique, then working further into tonal collage under the theme of hybrid creatures of mythology. The final artefact is a collage, mounted on a pastel-worked background.

  • Ceramics, Spring Flowers Vase - 1st Years. Theme: Spirals in Nature and Art.

    Aim of Unit of Learning:

    Ceramics for wellbeing;

    To create a ceramic Springtime/Imbolc vase, through coiling, under the theme of spirals in nature and art.

    Aim of Unit of Learning:

    Two stages of learning working through printmaking processes:

    Create an abstract collagraph relief print through the exploration of ….line, shape texture and pattern, to explore working with a variety of materials, based on the theme of ….surfaces

    Create a lino print ….through the process of line, shape, negative and positive space, working from surface patterns and texture based on the theme of surfaces

  • Ceramics for Wellbeing, Theme - Light of Home

    To create a slab lantern in ceramic/clay modelling under the theme of ‘The light of home’.

    Theme Development: Looking at the idea of home and light in the window, thinking about home vs house, home as a right more than a commodity, light in window in a welcoming tradition: the President’s candle in the window at Áras an Uachtaráin, and the Nordic, Pagan, Celtic, different religious traditions around light in midwinter.

  • Cardboard Construction - theme Collectors

    To create a Cardboard sculpture under the theme of ‘Collectors’ using the process of construction in cardboard.

    Theme Development: Working from a primary source, choose an object that they or someone they know collects, that can be recreated in an abstract scale, to represent the overall collection and represents that particular part of the collectors’ identity

  • Harry Clarke Origami Book, watercolour painting and visual studies - Transition Year


    To create an origami book, based around the life and work of illustrator and stained-glass artist Harry Clarke, drawing on the Visual Studies Framework at Senior Cycle and using illustration techniques in watercolour, lines and ornamentation, pattern, colour and typography styles.

  • Andy Warhol Exhibition inspired self-portrait

    Create a mixed media composition, using photography, image transfer, monoprint, stencilling, to explore the theme of identity/the self.

    Scenario (context): based on the Hugh Lane gallery Andy Warhol, ‘Three Times Out’ exhibition….
