About

Emily Ní Bhroin is an artist, educator and costume designer. She completed the Professional Master of Education (Art and Design) at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in 2024. Previously trained on the MA Costume Design for Performance (2011) at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London (UAL); she has extensive experience working in theatre and the screen industry, across disciplines of performance, both live and recorded, on award-winning productions and with internationally recognised artists. Her BA (2005) was in Media Arts (Film and Broadcasting) from Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), now known as TU Dublin.

From over 15 years of working in costume for film and live performance, she has much experience working both independently and collaboratively in a creative field. Teaching allows her to share her knowledge and skills from costume design and from wider interests in painting, drawing, jewellery-making, printmaking, ceramics, film, dance and literature. She very much enjoys teaching, and in turn learning from, young people; inspiring them to chart their own career in the creative industries and also to appreciate the benefits an art education can bring, in terms of wellbeing, self-expression and in instigating and pursuing social change. She has a love for Gaeilge (Irish language) and enjoys teaching through Irish or English.
