Post class reflection
Only 11 students were available to go to the Blessington Street Basin Park, which was a more manageable number than the full class. It was a success, we were lucky with the weather. It was within walking distance and I think the students really enjoyed being outside the school and I felt it myself that it was more relaxing to be in fresh air and talking to the students as fellow people. The fact that we were outside created a more relaxed atmosphere and we were able to talk in a more friendly, relaxed way about life and their concerns and interests. I gave them a long list of items to photograph and prompts for drawing. They enjoyed the collaboration to make ephemeral works, though it got quite rowdy as it progressed, luckily the group work happened at the end of the class. I hope they got enough photographs to work with to create drawings and prints in class.
